Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) is the use of assessment and intervention to develop, recover, or maintain the meaningful activities, or occupations, of individuals, groups, or communities. It is an allied health profession performed by occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants.

Occupational therapists (OTs) help people of all ages to improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. They work with individuals who have conditions that are mentally, physically, developmentally, socially or emotionally disabling.

Our OTs engage a child in therapeutic activities to help them achieve developmental milestones

Develop Skills for Independence

Our OTs help a child develop fine and gross motor skills, social skills, and independence in self-care

Sensory Perceptual Development

OTs help in the integration of impressions from different sensory sources into meaningful information; the ability to identify learned smells and tastes; addresses eye contact, fixations, localization of sounds, smells, and tastes

Evaluation and Assessment

OTs are important in determining an individual’s skill set or deficiency.  Assessment information may be gathered through standardized assessments, clinical observations of the child performing a set of tasks and activities, and analysis of the physical or social environment and the context in which the client performs the occupations.

Occupational therapy (OT) treatment focuses on helping children with physical, sensory, and/or cognitive disabilities be as independent as possible in all areas of their lives. OT can help kids with various needs to improve their cognitive, physical, sensory, and motor skills and enhance their self-esteem and sense of accomplishment.
